Daikin Spain is getting a new 27,000m2 warehouse – but will it actually improve things?
CEVA Logistics has started building a new warehouse in Tórtola de Henares, Guadalajara, for air conditioning manufacturer Daikin. Operations are expected to begin during the first quarter of 2027.
It's a 21-year partnership, so one hopes this isn't just a vanity project. CEVA Logistics currently provides services to Daikin from its Alovera facility.
Optimisation or Hot Air?
The project, designed to optimise Daikin’s logistics flows, includes implementation of “advanced infrastructure and IT systems” for efficient inventory management and full product traceability.
It also covers the installation of storage systems, reconfiguration of facilities, and incorporation of office spaces. Let's hope it's more than marketing speak.
Green Credentials?
The new logistics centre is said to be designed in line with the “highest standards of quality, efficiency and sustainability”. It is targeting BREEAM Very Good certification, endorsing the integration of renewable energy sources, LED lighting systems, and efficient water consumption management.
The use of materials with a low carbon footprint is also planned. It's a start, but we'll see if the proof is in the pudding.
Global Reach
CEVA Logistics offers end-to-end solutions in contract logistics and air, ocean, ground and finished vehicle transport in 170 countries worldwide.
One wonders whether this new facility will improve the working lives of CEVA's approximately 110,000 employees across approximately 1,500 facilities. The company has been Daikin’s logistics partner for 21 years in Spain.
Maybe this new warehouse will actually make a difference.
