Star Aberdeen Bags Biggest Contract: North Sea Chills!
Published:

Star Refrigeration's Aberdeen branch is celebrating its largest maintenance contract to date – not bad for a firm keeping the North Sea's vital sectors cool.

Established in 1971, the Aberdeen branch covers the north of Scotland and the isles, providing essential maintenance support to the fishing, leisure and pharmaceutical industries. These sectors rely on precise temperature control, so any breakdown can be costly.

Local Heroes

The branch has grown alongside its customer base, installing and maintaining a full range of refrigeration plant and equipment. With an 11-person team, including five specialist refrigeration engineers, they appear well-staffed – a rarity these days.

The Aberdeen branch recently secured its "largest ever maintenance contract", covering a multi-site regional distribution network for a major multiple. That's refrigeration and HVAC systems at more than 30 sites, both large and small, all under their watch.

Safety First (Probably)

Star’s team strives to ensure all plant and equipment operates in line with the latest health and safety regulations and legislative compliance. Contact Star Refrigeration to learn more.

As part of Star’s leading maintenance service, the Aberdeen branch provide planned preventative maintenance to minimise disruption and downtime for customers. Let's hope their planned preventative maintenance (PPM) is more than just a box-ticking exercise.

Tech Talk

Benefitting from corporate support, the branch offers a vast range of maintenance services, using the latest technology and best practice, including new installations and plant upgrades. They also offer refrigeration maintenance and condition based monitoring, including vibration monitoring and analysis, ammonia analysis, thermal imaging and laser alignment.

They also cover temperature compliance checks, health and safety advice, legislative compliance advice and energy monitoring and advice. The branch offers live plant monitoring, capital planning & asset management, and a fast and reliable call out service, plus digital documentation management, chiller contingency planning, and spares.

Star’s network of 9 branches across the UK was developed to better serve their nationwide portfolio of customers with the aim of delivering the right services, in the right locations and at the right time. The branches act almost as independent entities - employing over 200 people - and are fully supported by the wider business.

The highly skilled team provide 24/7 rapid support to customers, endeavouring to respond to all onsite problems within 2 hours of notification. Whether they actually manage it in the wilds of Scotland is another matter.
