Johnson Controls Lands CDP 'A' for Green Efforts

Johnson Controls has again secured a spot on the CDP annual 'A List' for sustainability transparency and performance. The building technology and services firm earned the recognition from CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) as one of just 4% of participating companies globally. Details can be found on the Johnson Controls media centre.

The CDP's scoring assesses companies' reporting depth, understanding of environmental risks, and evidence of best practices. Johnson Controls received an 'A' in business strategy, emissions reduction initiatives, low carbon products, opportunity disclosure, risk disclosure, and scope 3 emissions.

Katie McGinty, Chief Sustainability Officer at Johnson Controls, noted the business case for climate action:

The picture is increasingly clear: smart climate leadership is a business essential, driving performance and delivering results. When companies burn excess carbon, they burn cash – diverting resources from growth and innovation. I’m proud that Johnson Controls is leading in our own climate action commitments and delivering sustainability solutions to our customers and partners that drive a competitive edge.

Johnson Controls highlighted examples of sustainability actions including a German hospital cutting energy costs by 30% using geothermal energy and Children’s of Alabama achieving nearly $170,000 in annual energy cost savings, in addition to $700,000 saved using efficient chillers and heat pumps via Johnson Controls' OpenBlue AI-powered platform.

Achieving an ‘A’ on the list places Johnson Controls among global leaders demonstrating comprehensive disclosure, mature environmental governance, and meaningful action. To be recognised, companies need credible transition plans aligned to a 1.5°C future, verified emissions data, action across the value chain, and robust risk management processes.
