Mitsubishi Electric Opens New Indian AC Plant

Mitsubishi Electric has officially opened its new US$23m air conditioner and compressor manufacturing facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The facility, spread across 210,000m², has an annual production capacity of 300,000 indoor and outdoor room air conditioners and 650,000 compressors. The plant was built using Mitsubishi Electric’s advanced Japanese manufacturing technologies and data-driven processes. It is expected to support higher localisation, enhance supply chain resilience, and create over 2,100 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

This development follows Mitsubishi Electric's previous announcement of a US$22.5m investment in a new 88,000m² factory in India.
